ISI® Honors Two Office of Science Web Sites: Microbial
Cell Project and Genomes to Life (January 2002)
The Department of Energy's Microbial
Cell Project and the Genomes
to Life web sites will now be able to sport the ISI® logo on
their web pages. ISI is a business of The Thomson Corporation. The Thomson
Corporation is a leading global e-information and solutions company in
the business and professional marketplace. Both web sites, developed by
the Bioinformation Systems, Human Genome Management Information Systems
Group in Life Sciences Division, were recently selected for inclusion
in Current Web Contents, a new section of Current Contents Connect.
CC Connect offers web access to Current Contents, the ISI premier current
awareness database that provides information in the fields of science,
social science, technology, and the arts & humanities. The MCP and
GTL web sites will now join the original Human Genome
Project Information web site in the ISI index. HGPI has been indexed
and presented to scientists for several years. As part of the indexing
process, the ISI editors reviewed the Microbial Cell Project and Genomes
to Life web sites, developed a standardized descriptive record for them,
developed abstracts, and created links from CC Connect to the two web
sites so that they will now be available to an even broader science community.
