Genome Channel Recognized by Science (January 2000)

The Genome Channel was recognized in the December 17, 1999, issue of Science as one of five "hot picks" on the world-wide web. "Offering a sort of road atlas for finding genes is the Genome Channel, a site packed with pop-up Java windows that let you zoom in from chromosomes to annotated DNA sequences. Links take you to sequencing centers for 24 organisms, including humans, mice, and E.coli. (compbio.ornl.gov/channel)" The Genome Channel was developed by staff at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. (Funding: DOE-OBER; Project contact: Ed Uberbacher, 574-6134, uberbacherec@ornl.gov)
