Life Sciences Division Staff Members Honored by Federal
Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (November/December
2000)
LSD staff members Randy James, Alvin Ellis, Vaughn Patania, and Isidor
Sauers and other members of the High Temperature Superconducting staff from
Fusion Energy, Energy, Enginering, and Metals and Ceramics Division were recently
presented the "Excellence in Technology Transfer Award" by the Federal Laboratory
Consortium for Technology Transfer Southeast Region. The group was recognized
for hard work, dedication, and meticulous attention to detail that was instrumental
in developing and commercializing the High-Temperature Superconducting Power
Cables, and successful in transferring this technology to Southwire Company.
This award is given to a very select number of individuals who have demonstrated
their commitment by actively working to transfer Laboratory-developed technologies
to the private sector. This same group J. Winston Lue, John P. Stovall,
Glenn C. Barber, Robert D. Benson, Jonathan A. Demko, Alvin R. Ellis, Andy Fadnek,
Paul W. Fisher, Christopher A. Foster, Michael J. Gouge, David Randy James,
Patrick M. Martin, Vaughn P. Patania, Isidor Sauers, S. W. Schwenterly, and
Dennis O. Sparks was recognized at the UT-Battelle Awards Night 2000
with a Technical Achievement Award and the coveted "Engineer of the Year" award.
