Planning for New DOE Office Sciences Program Involving Life Sciences Division Staff (February 2001)

The DOE Office of Science announced this week a new program, "Genomes to Life" (GTL), proposed jointly by the Office of Biological and Environmental Research and by the Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research. GTL will set the direction for a significant part of future biological research at DOE. You can find the latest information on GTL at http://DOEGenomesToLife.org/. Several people at ORNL are contributing to the planning for GTL (Michelle Buchanan, Ed Uberbacher, Frank Larimer, Dabney Johnson, Betty Mansfield). Judy Wyrick, Denise Casey, Betty Mansfield, and Anne Adamson of the Human Genome Management Information Systems group are leading the integration, editing, and publishing of GTL materials, including the website.
