Toxciology and Risk Analysis Staff involved in DOE's Low Dose Radiation Research Program (February 2001)

Staff in the Life Sciences Division's Toxicology and Risk Analysis Section are currently involved in work on the DOE Low Dose Radiation Research Program. The web site developed for the Program was completely updated during January 2001. This site is now recognized as the source for information about low dose radiation effects. Its usage increases by about 100 users per month. Science magazine gave the site kudos this past October in one of its reviews of new web sites. Also, the first draft white paper in a series of five papers that reviews the biological effects of low dose ionizing radiation was completed in January. The paper has been submitted for review and eventual publication. TARA staff set up the program and served as coordinator for a workshop on computer modeling that was held September 8-9, 2000, in Bethesda, Maryland. Thirty-six individuals participated in the highly successful workshop. Proceedings of the workshop can be found on the low dose web site.
