ORNL Nuclear Medicine Staff Organize and Participate in International
Symposia (September 1998)
Members of the ORNL Nuclear Medicine Program (Life Sciences Division, Assessment
Technology Section) participated in major international congresses during August
and September. Saed Mirzadeh presented an invited paper at the American Chemical
Society Meeting held in Boston, Massachusetts on August 23-27. F. F. (Russ)
Knapp organized two international symposia in association with the World Congress
of Nuclear Medicine and Biology and the European Association of Nuclear Medicine
(WFNMB/EANM), which was held in Berlin, Germany, on August 30-September 4, 1998.
He organized the "Symposium on Radiopharmaceuticals and Radiopharmacy,"
held on September 2, which encompassed a half-day session with six invited speakers
reviewing the state of the art and future perspecitives of radiopharmaceuticals
for a number of diagnostic and therapeutic applications. He also chaired three
technical sessions and made four presentations at the WFNM/EANM Congress. In
conjunction with J. H. Kropp, M.D., he also organized the "4th
International Symposium on Radioiodinated Fatty Acids for Cardiac Imaging,"
which was held as a Post-Congress Meeting on September 5-6, in Dresden, Germany.
The proceedings will be published in a special issue of the journal Nuklearmedizin.
Dan McPherson presented an invited paper at the WFNMB/EANM Congress symposium,
and he also presented invited lectures in Frankfurt and Bonn, Germany, and Stockholm,
