Lead, Asbestos, and Radon Assessment Project for the U. S. Postal Service

The Life Sciences Division Assessment Technology Section has begun work on a major environmental pollutant assessment project for the Midwest Region of the United States Postal Service. The project involves surveys and assessments of lead, asbestos, and radon hazards at over 3600 Postal facilities in the midwest United States. In addition to field measurements and sampling, the project involves hazard and risk assessment, data management and communication systems development, site-specific training for Postal employees, and regulatory support. David Wilson, the AT Section's Technical Program Leader for Environmental Pollutant Detection and Assessment, is the overall Project Manager and is primarily responsible for obtaining this work. The project is scheduled to take about four years and will involve staff from all of the Oak Ridge sites.
